DVD drive slows down my computer!?

I hold a Toshiba Laptop. Recently, the DVD drive has started to slow down (when I rip/copy, the max rate is merely 1.5x whereas it used to be up to 8x). Worst of all, the computer dramatically slows down while it is copying or reading! I don't believe it is a virus, as scan have be negative. This happen once about 1 year ago, but seem to resolve spontaneously after a few weeks. Weird. If you can help, I'd appreciate it.

DVD drive slows down my computer!?

Reinstall everything from mark.....make sure to backup your files first your slow DVD......:-)....
It could be any a virus or something similar (or several of them!) or the drive itself is dying. This certainly can start. I would run software, virus, and hardware diagnostics on it. Good luck!
Working with a slow computer can be time consuming as programs/ applications pinch a long time to start. This problem is more pronounced in computers which hold been used for 6 or more months. More information at http://fixit.in/slowcomputer.html...
