Ok. So I plan on buying an Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 or E6300. I will be getting a motherboard that contains 4 DDR2 slots. Is it suitable to use a 1 GB stick in the first slot and later a 512 or maybe even 256 MB within the 3rd slot. (I say 3rd because later both cores will be running.) What I would do with this configuration is use the 1 GB core for gaming and huge processes and the 256-512 MB for ackground processes. Will this work or can I only do 1 GB contained by 1st and 3rd slot?
Thanks
Dual Core w/ Memory?
As long as all the RAM have the same clock speed, it will be fine. Just variety sure you know how much max ram your motherboard can hold.
If you're on window, you won't be able to split it up. Ram is strike. Windows will allocate it properly. (Plus to run games anymore you're going to need more than 1GB RAM anyway)
