Ok, let's read out I were to buy an AMD 64 X2 3800+ 2Ghz dual core processor. Does this anticipate that there are 2 cores that run at 1Ghz respectively, or does it mean that nearby are 2 cores that run at 2Ghz each?
Dual Core CPU?
its two cores both CAPABLE of running at 2 Ghz. just certain programs that are written to give somebody a lift advantage of processor multitasking can benefit from that. OR if you are running multiple programs, after some will be processed by one CPU, some by the other.
2 cores running at 2ghz each.
yea that would denote two runnig at 2gig each wich woulod be pretty nifty , ive seen peopel near just 1gig respectively and its pretty dang quick, altho im sure u could acquire faster than 2gig dual but why would u want to isnt 2 2gig coer at once fast enuf :-P
Don't assume it is twice as fast!
A 2Ghz single core, and a 2Ghz dual core run at 2Ghz, NOT 4Ghz.
The second core will collection from 20% to 80% of 2Ghz depending on the application you are multi tasking.
dual core means multithreading at ridiculus speeds, although im dependable that it does not mean the two cores running at 2ghz respectively, it means it spilts up the frequency into more cache which results surrounded by faster speeds. so to answer ur question on it is individual 1ghz each core.
im running 2 comps near 3800x2, yes there 2 gigs respectively, no it dosen,t double your speed, but makes a big difference (burn movies and play games at duplicate time) my single core 2gig in like peas in a pod comp couldn,t do this, software for dual cores and 64bit is comming, then study out!!!!
