DVD +/- RW drive had it?

I enjoy a Dell model E510, and just today my DVD +/- RW drive stopped working. I tried to obtain it to read both audio and data CDs, to no avail. I notice that when I put it in, in the order of 5 seconds subsequently the drive makes a low clunking nouns. I already reinstalled the driver. No settings were changed. I ruminate I need the lens cleaning brush, but it is the clunking rumbling that interests me, and makes me guess the drive broke. Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks!

The two most common problems are cable oxidation and motor failiures. If you're a bit more experienced, open it up, breed sure the motor works (the disk spins) and unplug and replug (reseat) the large ribbon cable from the laser to the board that cleans the nouns points (this fixed 4 out of 6 drives I have have that problem with). Also, check for visual bring down (burned connectors) Drive failiure is RARELY a software ussie. If you are not very experienced, buy a spanking new one. they often walk on sale for $20 or smaller amount in local stores. Otherwise you'll own to get Dell out or own to ship your whole PC.
You bought a dell to be exact your first mistake. Dell is a bunch of garbage. However sounds approaching your drive is probably bad you stipulation to call dell and use the one piece that is moral about them . Their support is great. Have them dispatch you a new drive
sounds to me that your drive is out, my suggestion if it,s still lower than warranty call them and enjoy them send a tech out to solve the prob. moral luck.
There is a part loose contained by the drive, which is why you get the clunking disturbance, it is trying to spin the disc, but something is jamming it.
